New Food :)

In the last month Derrick and I have tried a few new recipes, courtesy of Pinterest.  The first one we tried was a Chinese sesame chicken.  Derrick is a huge Chinese food fan, and we aren't super thrilled with our options here.  So we decided to try to make it.
He's quite the chef ;)
We ended up making szechuan chicken and sesame chicken.
The szechuan was a little too spicy for me, but the sesame was delicious!
To make the szechuan, we just cooked the chicken in a little oil and then added this sauce that you can find at most grocery stores.  For the sesame chicken, we used this receipe.

We also tried this zesty BBQ chicken, which we highly recommend!  It's super easy and super delicious, and it makes some good leftovers too.
Did I mention it's even a crock pot meal that takes no watching?!  I started it, left for a job, and came home to my house smelling awesome and perfectly cooken chicken!
Then you just have to shred it up and serve it on some hamburger buns!  YUMM!

I also decided to try the yougurt bites that I've seen on Pinterest.  No receipe needed for this one.
You need yougurt, a pan, wax paper, and a freezer :)
I just bought a big tub of yougurt and made these over a couple of days.  They make for a great snack when you're craving something sweet and cold (like ice cream!)

Grapefruit Anyone?!

So Monday I started to really take this eating better/exercising thing more seriously.  So far, I'd say we're out to a good start.  I've heard that Grapefruit a great kick start to your day, so I thought I would give it a try.  It really is as awful as they say.  Taralynn from Undressed Skeleton has said to put fat free jello on your grapefruit to make it taste less than awful.  (By the way, if you've never heard of her you should go check out her bio.  She's inspiring and a great motivator!)
I tried lime jello and I would definitely agree it wasn't as bad...but it was still bad. I think I'll try a different flavor next time.  I made it through it though and I'm still alive, so I'll try to give it another shot soon.  Today for breakfast I decided on some lime Greek yogurt.  It's much more delicious :)

Food Reviews

Well, we have been trying some new Pinterest recipies lately.  On Super Bowl Sunday, we had a pizza day with 8 different pizza, two of them being desert pizza that we found on Pinterest here.

It was delicious!  I give it 5 stars!  It was super easy, and I definitely recommend you try it!

On Monday Derrick and I tried this Doritos Chicken Cheesy thing, and it was a bust.  We were not huge fans.

I did think it was good and had good flavor, but it was just a lot of mush and not much substance.  We won't be making it again.  However, if you want to try it yourself, here is this link.

And Tuesday we tried these French dip crescents with Au Jus.

They were good.  I would give them a 4, but that's mostly because French dips aren't my favorite thing.  I think we'll have them again!  Here's the link.

So all in all, Pinterest is serving as quite the recipe builder with just a couple of fails!  Let me know if you have any Pinterest recipies you love!

Pot Roast Dinner

On Sunday Derrick and I invited the McCords over for a lovely family dinner.  I was able to try out my new crock pot that I got on Black Friday for $10!!  Whoooo! :)  And it worked marvelously!  I found a pot roast recipe on Pinterest and gave it a try with some potatoes.

Here is it cooking.
And here is our spread before digging in.  Kaylan even made a great gravy! :)

We finished the dinner off with a confetti cake (Derrick's choice in flavor!)  And we were all stuffed!

Sour Cream Chicken

Derrick and I tried this recipe the other day, and it was delicious!  We both would definitely recommend it!
It is super easy with only a few ingredients.  You need chicken, salt, pepper, garlic powder, sour cream, and garlic croutons!  I also made my own croutons with bread, olive oil, and garlic powder, but you can always buy them too.

You can get the chicken recipe here, and the crouton recipe here!  Let me know if you try it and what you think!! :)

Mouthwatering Monday - Sushi

So last week I went out with a couple girls from work for dinner, and we went to fourty-five on Mass Avenue. They each ordered sushi, and so I decided to "grow a pair" and try it.

Sorry for the picture of a half eaten one...it was a little crazy with the seaweed. The whole one was actually pretty good.

This was a big step for me, so you should all be pretty proud of me! Maybe next Monday I'll have a more mouthwatering thing to share with you!!

Have a great thanksgiving everyone!

Mouthwatering Monday - Macaroni & Cheese Casserole

Last week Derrick and I made this mac and cheese casserole that I found here.  It's from Martha Stewart, and it was delicious!  Even Derrick, who isn't fond of pastas, thought it was good!

I should maybe brush up on my food picture taking skills.  I always forget to take a picture before we dig into it.  :)  We clearly had leftovers for a week!!

I also cut into our pumpkins last week to get the seeds.  I love pumpkin seeds for a snack, so this year I made two different recipes.

The first one I made was the pumpkin seed recipe I was used to with olive oil and salt.  I found it here.
Then I also made a new yummy cinnamon & sugar version!  They were delicious too.  I found that recipe here

Recipe update

I wanted to give you an update to a couple new recipes we've tried yesterday and today. Yesterday we had BBQ pork ribs. They were amazing!! I found the recipe here.

Does that look delicious or what?? They turned out great and we'll definitely be trying those again!

Tonight I tried another recipe from here. It's called cheetos chicken fingers! Sounds good, right?

This is all you need to make these! But you'll have to go to the link to see them when they're done because I'm horrible and forgot to take the after picture! We dipped them in honey mustard dressing and they were amazing!!

Hopefully I'll be better about taking pictures for new recipes in the future!

P.S. This is the first post I've done from my phone, and it's kind of crazy for me to figure out. So if it didn't work out right, forgive me!
